This is a message I got from one of my customers who purchased a mini excavator from me over a year ago. He sent this just out of the blue on 4-25-26 (see attached).
I know there are a lot of the mini excavator ads on Craigslist & Facebook now and I’m not knocking what others who deal in the same products as I, they can sale as they wish this is still a free country. But with the knowledge of research of what it takes to properly perform preventive start up maintenance on Chinese Mini Excavators should help you understand that you are not comparing apples to apples.
Chinese Mini Excavators will run and work as intended most of the time, however there are pitfall in owning any Chinese equipment. Like immediately changing the motor oil. Check all nuts bolts and hydraulic connections. Replacing the factor shipping hydraulic fluid with a good American hydraulic fluid. Adding an inline hydraulic filter and if possible, adding an aftermarket hydraulic cooler. I’ve spent over $1,000 fixing several units and over $2,000 fixing one. So, if you purchase a Chinese Mini excavator be prepared to spend several hundred dollars if not more on making your machine a lasting investment.
I’ve had several people message me and tell me I’m charging so much more than the other people, and some are very rude about it. One of the rude folks bragged about he got his mini x $1200 less than my machine only to see him leave the seller a one-star review of how his “New” mini x he purchased was not working now and the seller told him that was tough.
I try to keep in contact with my customers for a year to make sure they are not having any issues with their machines. I also want to know this, so I know what to look for when I prepare each machine that I sell. I have had only minor issues with all that I have sold.
If these Chinese Mini Excavators are set-up properly before operation, they will be very reliable for the owner.
I feel the need to inform people that if Chinese machines are “New” doesn’t mean it’s ready to work. No matter what someone tells you.
